Program Overview: TRAIL is designed to provide services for students experiencing significant behavior problems in their home, school or community, or students with life skills needs that cannot be addressed in their home school. The program's goal is to provide educational services and therapeutic treatment that will enable students to function productively and positively within less restrictive environments. All students receive services from social workers assigned solely to TRAIL.
Knox Warren Special Education District, on behalf of its six-member districts, operates the TRAIL Program. TRAIL serves students with behavior challenges in grades K-12, and our students in our Life Skills Program in grades 4-12. Each student is offered instruction in the core subjects of math, language arts, science, social studies, social skills and physical education. Other subjects may be taught as appropriate based on student needs. The primary function of the TRAIL Program is to help students learn to manage their behavior. The TRAIL Program also assists students in preparation for future education, employment opportunities, and independent living skills.
